The Business Continuity Management Policy

The Business Continuity Management Policy is a crucial document that defines both the setup and ongoing management of the Business Continuity Management capability. The BCM policy is not a static document and should be reviewed regularly as circumstances and needs change

It is vital that the organisation sets the policy within the context of its own circumstances. It would normally be a short document that includes reference to the following items

Set up activities
Ongoing maintenance and management activities
Scope
Responsibilities and Resources
Minimum standards, expectations and guidelines

The policy should be incorporated into the organisations own change management and review systems to ensure that it remains relevant and up to date with the rest of the organisation.
